Envisioning Highmark Health’s workplace of the future leveraging Microsoft Office 365. I contributed to designing a vision, aimed at creating a better employee experience.

Timeline & Contribution

I rolled on this project from November 2019 - December 2019. I was responsible for synthesizing the outcome of 5 design thinking workshops and designing the Digital Hub prototype.

Role

Visual Designer

Problem Space

Highmark Health has a history of rapid growth through acquisition, which resulted in different company cultures and disjointed IT infrastructure. Technology became a blocker rather than an enabler for Highmark Health. Employees were frustrated with the outdated systems they were using and the lack of communication from upper management. All this led to employees having a difficult time performing daily functions and tasks.

Outcome

The team and I delivered the workshop's outputs in an InVision prototype and a digital strategy road map. The InVision prototype was designed to effectively deliver multiple stories using visuals to help paint a clearer picture for Highmark and their own Digital Hub. The success of this engagement led to the migration to Microsoft Office 365.

Storytelling

After the team conducted the workshops, they collected the notes and feedback from the employees. We then collaborated to synthesize the findings and created 5 different stories, all around the future of what Microsoft technologies can bring to enhance the workplace experience.

The Hub

The Digital Hub has a combination of out-of-the-box and custom web parts, presenting a rich 360° view of daily tasks, metrics, notifications, insights, documents, and activities, showing a contextually relevant mix of each employee’s personal items and across their full team.

Interactive Storyboard

The team used a storytelling approach to paint a picture of the future of the workplace experience, where employees are connected anywhere, anytime, on all devices, including desktop, mobile, voice UI, and projection.

Five common use cases were covered, assuring that challenges identified during the discovery phase were addressed in a meaningful way.
